Apprentice Candidate Zoe Beresford Moves A Step Closer The Prize

LOCAL Apprentice hopeful Zoe Beresford moved a step closer to winning the competition with a strong performance on the show this week.

Zoe evaded the battle for survival in the boardroom despite being on the losing team in a task to create a new lifestyle magazine.

The 26-year-old Arclid businesswoman came under fire for coming up with the name of the losing magazine - Hip Replacement, which was targeted at the over 60s market.

But Zoe gave a tenacious performance, blaming team leader Jim Eastwood for 'bleeding all the irony' out of the product with his stilted front cover.

Asked who he wanted to bring back into the boardroom, Jim selected fellow team members Susan Ma and Glenn Ward.

And in the end it was engineer Glenn who faced Lord Sugar's wrath and a taxi home.

After a slow start Zoe has gradually clawed her way back into contention as a possible winner of the competition.

Pundits on the aftershow programme The Apprentice, You're Fired! lauded Zoe's performance, with Lord Sugar's adviser on the show Nick Hewer describing her as 'highly intelligent'.

After his exit, Glenn admitted he and Zoe had formed a relationship and were still in touch.

He said: "Zoe's a very good girl, and a strong person.

"We are good friends and I will stay friends with her.

"Me and Zoe got on really well and we bonded in that house.

"It's a difficult situation, to find friends there is pretty hard but she's a good girl and we work well together.

"You can make friends out of this process."
