Sandbach candidate Zoe Beresford fired from The Apprentice

SOUTH Cheshire's Apprentice hopeful Zoe Beresford was dumped out of the hit series tonight.

The 26-year-old Arclid businesswoman was fired by Lord Sugar after a spectacular defeat in the latest task.

Zoe's team was whitewashed in the task to create and pitch a new biscuit - achieving zero sales.

As team leader Zoe was immediately in the firing line as Lord Sugar decided that something was 'fundamentally wrong'.

He blamed Zoe for the poor quality of the biscuit, insisting she should have taken charge of production instead of branding and marketing.

Zoe had a quiet start to the series but gradually grew in confidence, becoming increasingly forthright.

She clashed regularly with a number of rivals, particularly Susan and Melody.

But she formed a 'close relationship' with engineer Glen Ward.

After the show Lord Sugar said: "I am looking for a business partner who trusts her instincts.

"Zoe didn't do that and that's why she had to go."

Zoe responded saying: "I totally agree. I should have stuck to my guns.

"I think it was a particularly unique team. I literally tried to be all things to all men.

"I was always taught that if everyone wants something different, do what you want and then at least one person is happy.

"Maybe I should have stuck to that advice."

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Zoe works for The Clever Little Drinks Company, her family's Arclid-based business, as a project manager.

She bought a house with her sister at the age of just 12 and was awarded the Rolls-Royce Manufacturing Technology Prize for the highest dissertation mark in the school of engineering.
