CONSERVATIVE by-election candidate Edward Timpson has written to Prime Minister Gordon Brown asking him to visit the area.

Following visits from Tory leader David Cameron and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, Mr Timpson said the PM is conspicuous by his absence.

In a letter to Gordon Brown, he said: "I would like to invite you to Crewe and Nantwich to meet local residents with me to discuss their concerns about violent crime, the rising cost of living and your decision to abolish the 10p tax rate - almost ten thousand families have been hit by this decision in Crewe and Nantwich alone.

"I have met thousands of people here since I was selected as the candidate last July and I have to tell you that many people feel that you are just ignoring their concerns and refusing to listen.

"A decision by you to come up to Crewe and Nantwich in the next few days and to actually meet real people face to face and explain your reasons for increasing their taxes would be the first small step towards addressing some of their concerns.

"I know that the job of Prime Minister is a busy one - but I really think it would benefit you to see what people here in Crewe and Nantwich are going through and you could find the time if you wanted to.

"With a by-election here now well under way, people want to discuss their concerns with you.

"There could not be a better time for you to visit us.

"Crewe and Nantwich has received a visit from both David Cameron and the Liberal Democrat leader.

"You are the only party leader not to have come up here yet."

"Perhaps Mr.Timpson, as he likes to appear so knowledgeable, could tell us how many times the last two Tory Prime Ministers, Margaret Thatcher and John Major, visited constituencies during by-election campaigns."

Perhaps you would be more interested to learn that Tony Blair actively campaigned in at least two by-elections that I know of... so if the last Prime Minster can do it, why not the current one?

Gordon Brown promised after the disasterous May 1st elections to come visit, to listen to what the people of Britain had to say... so far he's been to Cornwall and Scotland. Those places are just about as far away from Crewe as its humanly possible to get.

At least Mr Timpson's boss has come up to listen to the people of Crewe & Nantwich four times. Meanwhile Labour's candidate has to make do with a short phone call.

Ostrich Brown has his head in the sand, he's just praying it will all work out before his country begins starving on the streets.

I used to vote for Gwyneth D as a good MP.
Gordon Brown is all about selling off national gold reserves, raiding our pensions, taxing us throuigh the roof and dithering U-Turns.
I am voting for a good hardworking Cheshire man. He may be Conservative, but give him a chance.

I would be surprised if the Brown bottler had the guts to face the low paid high taxed workers in Crewe.Brown is only interested in winning a general election ,he thinks he can win by robbing the poor so he can buy votes handing out once only minisule amounts of cash to people who need the money far less than the people he robbed.

Brown hasn't been to Crewebecause he's not got anything to say to the people who live there, apart from "sorry" that is.
