The AAT Level 2 Certificate is an internationally recognised qualification that will give you a solid grasp of essential accounting skills and principles. By the end of this course you will understand the basics of manual and computerised accounting and how to use these techniques in a 'real world' setting. At this point you will be ready for your first specialist accounting role which could be as a Book-Keeper, Accounts Clerk, Company Cashier, Sales or Purchase Ledger Clerk, or trainee Financial Accounts Assistant.
The AAT is the leading professional body for Accounting Technicians, with over 100,000 members worldwide. Gaining this prestigious qualification will give you a competitive edge in the job market, opening the door to a wide range of well paid and highly respected accounting roles. The Level 2 certificate is the first stage of the full AAT Accounting Qualification. Completing all three levels is approximately equivalent to the first year of an honours degree and leads to Accounting Technician status after Level 4. This level of achievement also secures entry to study further with all the main chartered accountancy bodies. In fact, it's the only professional qualification that allows progression to chartered status and one in twelve chartered accountants started off studying AAT. * Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) * The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) * The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) * The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) * The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
By equipping you with practical, hands-on accounting skills the AAT Level 2 Certificate will prepare you for your first specialist accounting role. This could be as a bookkeeper, accounts clerk, company cashier, sales or purchase ledger clerk or trainee financial accounts assistant, earning up to £25,000 per year* (* Hays Market Overview and Salary Guide, 2011).
You should be able to complete the entire course within approximately 300 study hours. To gain the final qualification you will required to complete eight assignments and pass three exams and two computer-based projects taken at an external examination centre – includes optional Sage Certificate of Competency.
