SCOUTING for Girls' debut album, unimaginatively called Scouting for Girls, similarly lacks any evidence of real thought having gone into differentiating between the songs.
But if you liked She's So Lovely and Elvis Ain't Dead you will probably like this album as most of it sounds the same with the tempo remaining consistently similar throughout the 11 songs.
While variety is not the band's strong point they have a good formula with their catchy and easy to listen to piano-based pop, which does not take a great deal of effort to learn and sing along to.
With lyrics that speak of tales of youth, unrequited love and of growing up, this works as an essentially feel-good album, full of hand claps and infectious backing vocals that always seem to sound better in the summer.
Yet if you are looking for the next big thing keep scouting, I doubt this album will make it much further than car stereos.
Having said that, all the kids that are undoubtedly going to love Scouting for Girls will probably secure the band's place in the halls of the top of the pops for the next few years to come.
