YOU can meet the man behind one of cinema’s most iconic masks at a celebration dedicated to Star Wars.

Sculptor Brian Muir famously created Darth Vader’s helmet and armour from Ralph McQuarrie’s designs.

He will be attending Star Wars Gathering Liverpool to meet fans on July 7 alongside other actors from the saga including Paul Blake who played Han Solo’s nemesis Greedo and Alan Harris who portrayed bounty hunter Bossk. The event is to tie in with the 40th anniversary year of Star Wars.

A spokesman said: “On May 25, 1977, an independent space opera movie called Star Wars premiered in just 32 movie theatres across the USA.

“Little did the world realise at the time, how important and influential this single film would be to the future of movie-making, merchandising and life itself.
