THE winner of 2016’s X-Factor is set to go wild in the lead role for the new stage adaptation of Madagascar.

Matt Terry will be playing Alex the lion in his acting debut. The musical is coming to Manchester's Palace Theatre from August 14 to 18.

Since winning X-Factor, Matt has recorded music all over the world including Miami, LA and Scandinavia.

After a top three hit with the Ed Sheeran-penned winner’s single When Christmas Comes Around, he released his debut album, Trouble, in November 2017.

His first single from the album, Sucker For You has had nearly 60 million streams on Spotify.

After that Matt went back to his Spanish roots by featuring on Enrique Iglesias’s Subeme La Radio alongside Sean Paul.

Based on the DreamWorks animated film, Madagascar follows the animals of New York’s Central Park Zoo as they escape and find themselves on an unexpected adventure.
