Chat show host Jeremy Kyle tumbled to the floor in shock as a guest stormed unannounced onto the stage to launch herself at her own sister.

Cameras just missed the moment that he hit the ground but turned back as security helped him back to his feet.

The presenter, 51, apparently escaped injury – but took a few moments to stare in speechless astonishment after the woman as she charged back off the stage.

The woman, named Emma, was confronting her sister in the segment labelled “I’ll prove we’re not sisters – can you prove you’re not on drugs?”

Jeremy did not even have a chance to introduce her to the stage before she flew in.

Following the show, broadcast on ITV on Wednesday, he tweeted a photo of himself caught face-down on the floor with the caption: “What a show this morning, It’s all been going off!”

It seemed he found the funny side as he joked directly down the camera: “Just back from a holiday, open my mouth, and get flattened!” as the audience laughed.

Following media reports suggesting that Jeremy had been deliberately knocked over by the woman, a spokeswoman for ITV confirmed: “Jeremy was shocked when the guest ran on the stage and fell off the chair.”
