The final of The X Factor 2016 is nearly here – and the contestants are poised to take on some major duets.

The three remaining acts will be teaming up with some very established artists in order to win last-minute votes at the weekend, but one particularly huge group will not be appearing on stage.

The Spice Girls came close to duetting with 5 After Midnight after the boys impressed Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B with their performance of Say You’ll Be There earlier in the competition, but the plans fell through at the last minute, according to The Sun.

The girl band will reportedly be replaced by last year’s winner Louisa Johnson and group Clean Bandit, although other reports have suggested The Weeknd could step up for 5 After Midnight.

Little Mix, Kylie Minogue and The Weeknd will all perform during the show, although it isn’t yet known if they will actually be taking part in the duets.

Matt Terry has been rumoured to take to the stage with former X Factor winner James Arthur, while front-runner Saara Aalto is tipped to perform with former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, who frequently performs with Queen.
