Katie Holmes has dashed fans’ hopes for a revival of the hugely popular 90s teen drama series Dawson’s Creek.
The actress – who can credit the show with her ascent to fame – starred alongside the likes of James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson as the lovable Joey Potter.
And, following in the success of fellow 90s programme Gilmore Girls’ recent revival, it’s fair to say there were raised hopes for the same to happen to Dawson’s Creek.
During an appearance on the Just Jenny Show on US radio station SiriusXM, Katie said there is pretty much no chance of such a TV reunion happening.
She said: “I don’t think we’re going to do a reunion.”
However, while the cast will not be reprising their roles as older versions, she said: “We see each other every now and then.
“I think that the charm of the show was (series creator) Kevin Williamson’s writing and it was of that time and it gave teenagers this voice. It was a very, very special time — a special show and I loved every minute of it.
This follows on from Michelle – who played Jen Lindley – also being asked about a revival happening earlier this year.
During an appearance on the Today show, she reminded her fans that her character died, but she joked that – if there were to be a Dawson’s comeback – she could maybe reappear as a ghost.
She told the hosts: “I would have to come back as a ghost – or put a lot of filters on the camera, and I’ll do flashback scenes.”
The drama series ran from 1998 until 2003, and followed a group of high school students as they grew up and went to college in Massachusetts.
