Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning to marry in France but their big day has been held up by construction delays, it has been reported.

The power couple got engaged in 2012 and there has been much speculation about where they will exchange vows, but E! News has now reported that they want to wed at their home in the South of France.

A source said Brad and Angie want a "quiet, meaningful celebration of their love" at Chateau Miraval, which will take place later this year or early next year and will apparently be for around 22 guests only.

The stars, who have six children, wanted to exchange vows sooner but have had to hold off because of renovations and building work at the property.

The insider went on: "This is Brad's project and Angie has had nothing to do with it. It's all been so stressful and has been such a gigantic headache that she just left him to it.

"There's still no official date set, but they're at the stage where they can say they'll definitely be married by this time next year."

The Hollywood stars are apparently planning to start spending more time at their pad in France after their nuptials.

The source added: "It'll be a lovely celebration to start life in the new house...

"That's why they've waited to get married, because they want to marry there at that house and celebrate how far they've come as a family, as a couple, and individually in just 10 years."
