Kate Hudson has spoken of her delight at establishing a "happy blended family" despite divorcing Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson.

The pair have a 10-year-old son, Ryder, while the Hollywood star also has a three-year-old boy, Bing, with fiance Matt Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse.

" Divorce is always hard and a lot of people find it difficult to overcome a hurtful and bitter break-up," Kate told the Mail on Sunday's You magazine.

" Chris and I are lucky because we have managed to maintain a relationship. He has a great wife and a beautiful daughter and we all spend time together - we hang out as an extended family because we know that is important for Ryder."

The 35-year-old added: " Ryder is always saying, 'I have such a cool, big family', and in the healthiest divorce scenario, in a happy blended family, it can be wonderful."

Kate, who won an Oscar nomination in 2001 for her role as Penny Lane in Almost Famous, revealed that after having two boys, she would now like a girl.

She said: "Oh, I would love a daughter. I have a one-year-old niece and she is just adorable and I love buying her little dresses and outfits. So, yes, I would love a baby girl one day. One thing's for sure, there will be more babies. I am not done yet."

The actress, whose movie credits include How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, You, Me And Dupree and The Reluctant Fundamentalist, said she enjoys nights out with other Hollywood A-listers.

" There's a whole team of us - Gwyneth (Paltrow), Cameron (Diaz), Reese (Witherspoon), Chelsea (Handler) - and we go out regularly and have such a blast together.

"From the outside that might sound very glamorous, but for us it's just like any group of women who work together in an office going out for a drink at the end of the day. We laugh a lot, gossip and joke about what's going on in our lives like any other bunch of women, the only difference being the work that we do and the fame that comes with it."
