Barbara Windsor has admitted she is enjoying the flexibility of not being in EastEnders, confessing "I don't want the grind".

The 75-year-old actress - who starred as Peggy Mitchell in the soap for 16 years until 2010 - is still kept busy with acting and charity work and as the face of online bingo site Jackpotjoy. But she is enjoying her retirement from the busy world of soap.

Barbara revealed at the opening night of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory in the West End: "I do a bit of everything. I don't have EastEnders, that was three years ago. So I have my advert which I still do, Queen of Bingo, I do lots of my charity work, lots of different things.

"I don't want the grind."

She still has fond memories of her time in Albert Square but confessed filming so many hours every week for the soap was hard work.

She added: "It's great, I love it but it is full on."

Barbara revealed she is still asked to shout "Get out of my pub!" by EastEnders fans and is happy to oblige.
