Previous Occupation - Has worked for the Crown Prosecution Service as a prosecutor and for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) as Head of the Criminal Legal Section of the UN Mission in Kosovo and latterly the Director of the Department of the Department of Judicial Administration. Personal Overview - Inherited this safe Labour seat in 2010 from retiring MP Dr Brian Iddon. Born in Pakistan, she moved to the UK at the age of 9. Comes from a legal career background, working in the UK and abroad for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo where she was involved assisting in the rebuilding of their judicial system. She has also specialised in human rights and administrative law and has been a former Human Rights Advisor to the Mayor of London Ken Livingstone with a remit covering civil, political, social and economic rights. She has also been active in doing voluntary work for law centres and Citizens' Advice Bureaus and is a former President of the Pakistan Club (UK).

Political History - General Election candidate for Brent East (2005). MP Bolton South East (2010-). Member of the Justice Select Committee (2010-). Member of the Political and Constitutional Reform Select Committee (2011).

Personal Overview - Effectively replaced former UKIP MEP John Whittaker at the 2009 European Elections who he had worked for as an assistant at the Parliament for several years. Has an academic background as a lecturer in the Merseyside area. Politically, he has achieved relatively rapid promotion within the party in recent years, becoming Party Chairman in 2008. In terms of European politics, he has gained experience through his work for John Whittaker MEP, he has also acted as a political consultant to Godfrey Bloom MEP and has been Editor of the Bulletin from Brussels Magazine. As well as opposing Britain's membership of the European Union, his political interests include campaigning against political correctness as well as campaigning to save post offices and British pubs.
