ANOTHER opinion poll has predicted that the Conservatives will overturn Labour's majority to take Crewe and Nantwich in the by-election.

The ComRes poll for The Independent has the Conservatives on 48 per cent, 13 points ahead and on course for a 14 per cent swing.

Labour enjoyed a 7,780 majority in the constituency at the last election but the poll is the latest of several to put the Tories far enough ahead to suggest that Labour candidate Tamsin Dunwoody might not succeed her mother in the Commons.

Conducted between Thursday and Sunday, it put the Liberal Democrats on 12 per cent and other parties on 5 per cent.

The poll also predicted that the turnout would be higher than the 60 per cent at the last General Election with Tory voters more certain to get to the ballot box than those supporting Labour or the Lib Dems (80 per cent compared with 71 per cent and 67 per cent).

Gordon Brown should be ashamed of the campaign that labour have run here - it is a real discrace to Gwyneth Dunwoody. A tory victory will send him the message he needs!

For two weeks now I've had a letter box full of various campaign leaflets, this morning I left to go to work at 8am and the Labour camp were already storming up and down the road delivering yet more paper. Enough!

Gordon Brown needs to be sent a message, regardless of the local campaigners bickering about who is more local than who. And the message is going to be that I find him quite unnecessary. Time for a change!

Anyone still considering voting Labour should consider the message a Labour victory in Crewe & Nantwich would send to Gordon Brown. If Tamsin Dunwoody were to win the seat, the message Brown would receive would be: "You are doing a great job, Gordon. No need to change anything. Just carry on as before."

Is that really the message anyone wants to send to Gordon Brown?

Vote for any party except Labour.

Gwyneth Dunwoody would be ashamed to see the Labour party running such a vile and dirty campaign. Labour DESERVE to lose this one.

I believe come Thursday we'll see a vastly increased Liberal vote.

While the Tories are out ahead, I think many Labour voters will switch after seeing the truly awful Labour campaigning... with a good few going of those going to the liberals.
