ANOTHER opinion poll has predicted that the Conservatives will overturn Labour's majority to take Crewe and Nantwich in the by-election.
The ComRes poll for The Independent has the Conservatives on 48 per cent, 13 points ahead and on course for a 14 per cent swing.
Labour enjoyed a 7,780 majority in the constituency at the last election but the poll is the latest of several to put the Tories far enough ahead to suggest that Labour candidate Tamsin Dunwoody might not succeed her mother in the Commons.
Conducted between Thursday and Sunday, it put the Liberal Democrats on 12 per cent and other parties on 5 per cent.
The poll also predicted that the turnout would be higher than the 60 per cent at the last General Election with Tory voters more certain to get to the ballot box than those supporting Labour or the Lib Dems (80 per cent compared with 71 per cent and 67 per cent).
