NANTWICH Town aim to become a real force in UniBond Premier by building on their flourishing support.

With the club on a roll and moving into the Weaver Stadium, gates increased tenfold to an average of over 500 last season.

And after back-to-back promotions, the Dabbers hope to continue the trend and bump that figure up further with competitive pricing.

Season tickets are: Adults £140, concessions £80 and Under 16’s £21 with matchday prices £8, £5 and £2 respectively.

Boss Steve Davis believes that’s value for money.

“I think it’s reasonable,” he explained.

“It’s only £1 more to watch a good game of football and there are some excellent teams in this division.

“Boston were in the League only two years ago.

“We’ve also kept kids at the same price because we see them as them as the future.

“We had a good average last year and hopefully we can pull in another couple of hundred.

“I’d like to think we’ll get more watching us next season.

“We’ve got lads who will work as hard as possible to win the game.

“That’s my ethos and if we do that, we’ll win more than we lose.

“People want value for money these days because the cost of football has gone up dramatically.”

From their summer work so far, it looks clear that Nantwich intend to do more than just make up the numbers.

On the back of Darren Tinson and Charlie O’Loughlin arriving, the Dabbbers have made their eighth swoop by signing Mark Beeston from Kidsgrove.

“We’ve worked hard to get what we’ve got and I think the new lads will make a big difference,” added Davis.

“We’ve got enough now, I think the squad is big enough to start the season.

“Mark’s a decent player.

“He was with Crewe and I think he came through with the Dean Ashton group.”

While Davis has boosted his squad, the knock-on has been a few departures with Paul Donnelly moving on.

The 27-year-old former Vale defender has decided to join Premier rivals Witton Albion.

“He’s been part of the furniture for three years and I thought he’d want to come along for the ride and see it through,” said Davis.

“But he’s been offered a good deal by Witton and chose to go.

“He’s done a great job for us, he’s been a good servant to Nantwich and I’m sure he’ll do a good job for Witton.

“I don’t dwell on these things and we move on.”

Hot-shot Mickey Lennon was among those returning to training on Tuesday night.

Davis was pleased with their first session.

“A few weren’t available but we still had about 24 down there,” he said.

“We did the blip tests and weighed them and they all look pretty fit to be honest.

“Now it’s about getting the squad together and although we’ve lost a couple, I don’t think we’ll lose that spirit we’ve got.

“We’ve still got a few characters around.”
