NANTWICH Town will meet with UniBond League chiefs tomorrow to try and resolve their false start.
Their Premier Division opener against Boston United has been postponed due to a mix-up with the fixture list.
It’s a downer for the Dabbers who had requested to play away on August 16 due to work on the pitch at the Weaver Stadium.
For whatever reason it didn’t happen and Nantwich were to welcome Boston for the big kick-off.
The two clubs had agreed to switch the game to York Street, but the league ruled that would give Boston an unfair advantage with three consecutive home games to start their season and postponed the match.
Nantwich will now appeal at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium tomorrow.
Spokesman Phil Johnson said: “The club has been informed that we will not be allowed to reverse the Boston United fixture.
“The league accepts Nantwich made an early application, on June 17, to play the first games as away games.
“Unfortunately this was overlooked by the league.
“There is a UniBond League meeting on Friday and Nantwich Town will request in person that the league give the matter further consideration.
“We believe that it is equally unfair to both Nantwich and Boston as we are both agreeable to the switch.”
This means the friendly against the Alex will be switched, taking the edge of that encounter.
It now goes ahead at Newcastle Town’s Lyme Valley Stadium on Monday, August 4, KO 7.30pm.
Meanwhile everything’s gone to plan on the field.
Nantwich beat Chastown 3-1 last Thursday thanks to goals from Charlie O’Loughlin and Liam Shotton (2).
Peter Heller (2), Mickey Lennon and Alan Negation fired them to a 4-0 win over Singleton.
Adam Beasley and Shotton were on target as the Dabbers beat Biddulph Victoria on Tuesday night.
They travel to Kidsgrove on Saturday.
