Annual service to remember lost children
11:32am Monday 29th October 2012 in News By Matthew Taylor
A REMEMBRANCE service in Minshull Vernon will celebrate the short lives of babies and children born at Leighton Hospital, but who have sadly passed away.
The annual service, organised by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT), will be held at 3pm in St Peter’s Church on Saturday, November 10.
Parents, friends and relatives are invited to remember young loved ones who passed away before, during or after birth.
The service includes an act of remembrance and candle lighting, providing an occasion for those affected by the death of a child under 16 to acknowledge their loss.
Lynn Pessol, ward manager for the hospital’s neonatal unit, said: “We hold these services each year for families who have suffered the loss of a baby or child.
“The service not only provides an opportunity for patients, relatives and friends to meet together and talk about their personal experiences, but also helps families cope with their great sense of personal loss.”
All are welcome to attend the quiet, reflective service, irrespective of faith or religious beliefs.
To register attendance, contact the neonatal unit on 01270 612077.
Alternatively, those unable to attend the service but who would like a candle to be lit on their child’s behalf, can contact the above number, or email Lynn Pessol on lynn.pessol@mcht.nhs.uk.
