WILLASTON scooped the silver gilt award in the small town category of the North West Britain in Bloom competition.

It’s the latest of many successes for the village in the annual competition.

Cheshire East clr Brian Silvester paid tribute to the Willaston in Bloom committee, led by clrs Wayne Lewis and John Flackett.

He said: “Thanks are due to all those many householders who have such magnificent floral displays in their gardens, and to the parish council and others who helped fund the cost of the wonderful floral beds and other exhibits in the village.

“There is a wonderful community spirit in Willaston and this award is fully justified.”
