PROSPECTIVE members of Crewe’s Youth Town Council met mayor Margaret Martin.
The young representatives will operate a youth council alongside the new Crewe Town Council when it comes into being in 2013.
Clr Michelle Sherratt, who is mentoring the youngsters, said: "It was a brilliant day, which was supported by the brilliant Cheshire East Youth Workers and the Labour Party.
“The prospective youth councillors very much enjoyed meeting Madame Mayor, who gave them a guided tour of the Municipal Buildings.”
The young councillors are due to receive further training sessions on policy making, debating skills and working as a group.
Clr Sherratt added: “It is a very important venture bringing democracy to a generation which is very politically neglected.
“I'm very committed to developing our youth councillors, both politically and community-wise.”
