Transport committee MP backs rail electrification

THE MP for Liverpool Riverside, Louise Ellman, has backed calls to electrify the Crewe to Hollyhead railway line.

Louise, Chair of Parliament’s Select Committee on Transport, emphasised the strategic importance of Crewe to the UK’s railway network during a meeting hosted by South Cheshire Labour Party at Crewe Golf Club, on November 30.

Louise took over as chair of the select committee in 2008, following the death of Crewe & Nantwich MP Gwyneth Dunwoody, who had held the position since 1997.
