CREWE Judo Club received £478 to purchase new safety mats for their training sessions with local youngsters.

The club were one several organisations in the town to benefit from the Co-operative Group’s Community Fund – which has seen £50,000 shared by groups and projects across Cheshire in 2012.

The fund is created by members of the Co-operative Group who elect to donate all, or part, of their twice-yearly dividend payments directly to the scheme.

Others to get a share were Crewe Alexander Ladies Football Club and St Thomas More Catholic High School’s Breakfast Club.

Community Fund application forms are available at www.co-operative.coop/communityfund or by phoning 0844 262 4001.
