Man appears in court charged with murder

FLORAL tributes have been left at the scene of a fatal stabbing in Crewe.

Tributes to Eric Tomkinson, of Crewe, adorn the kerbside in Wistaston Road.

The 26-year-old was taken by ambulance in a critical condition to North Staffordshire hospital with a stab wound to the stomach.

He died at midday on Saturday, January 5.

Paul Ward, 26, of Alton Street, appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates Court this morning, Monday January 7, charged with murder.

The case has been committed to Chester Crown Court. 

A 27-year-old man previously arrested has been released without charge.

The incident occurred in Wistaston Road around 7.25 on Friday, January 4.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any relevant information, to make contact using the non emergency number 101, quoting incident number 773 of January 4.
