AFTER a ten year campaign, former mayor Roy Cartlidge said he was ‘delighted’ to see a Crewe grot spot finally demolished.

Bulldozers moved in on the old annex building at St Barnabas Church, West Street, this week.

Roy was joined by church warden, Peter Hart, to see the eyesore brought down.

The St Barnabas ward clr said: “I would like to thank all the people who along with me campaigned for this to happen.

“I made a promise to the local residents that I would take action on grot spots within the ward.

“All Change for Crewe wishes to improve the liveability of areas like Crewe St Barnabas and tackle the physical challenges in deprived areas abutting the town centre.

“This all bodes well for the future, and at least gives the impression it’s not all talk.

“Action is taking place I only hope all derelict land is given the same treatment.
