1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) marched through Crewe on Friday, June 14, as part of their homecoming parades throughout the north west.
Despite the rain, members of the public turned out in force to welcome 1 Mercian troops Crewe was among 11 towns the regiment is visiting across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Wirral next week to mark their return from Afghanistan.
Around 400 soldiers from 1 Mercian served during its recent six month tour which saw personnel supporting and mentoring the Afghan National Security Forces as they took on greater responsibility for Nad ‘Ali in Helmand Province.
