SIXTH formers in West Cheshire have once again maintained the borough’s high standards of A-level success.
Provisional figures revealed on Thursday indicate that a total of 2,155 students from 15 schools, academies and colleges have scored an average pass rate of more than 97 percent - in line with comparable national figures.
Almost eight percent of students in the borough achieved higher grade A* passes - an increase of nearly two percentage points on provisional results released at this time last year.
Similar increases have also been seen at A and B grade passes. This bucks the national trend where results at the highest grades have fallen slightly.
Clr Mark Stocks, executive member for Children and Families, said: “Once again the borough’s high standards have been maintained and I want to thank everyone involved particularly, of course, parents, teachers and the youngsters themselves.”
Gerald Meehan, strategic director for Children and Young People’s Services, added: “Whilst overall results are very satisfying, I am particularly pleased that our sixth formers also have appeared to reverse the national fall in A and B grade passes”.
