A COMMUNITY village in Crewe have launched an Admiral Nurse service, giving families of customers access to specialist dementia support and advice.
Mental health nurse Caroline Clifton has been recruited as the first Admiral Nurse for Belong, on Brookhouse Drive.
Admiral Nurses are mental health nurses that specialise in dementia.
Caroline, who lives in Northwich, will support the families and carers of Belong residents and customers and also provide advice to Belong staff on how best to care for those living with dementia.
Caroline said: “Ever since starting out as a student nurse, I have been working towards realising my ambition of becoming an Admiral Nurse.
“It is a privilege to be working with carers in the Belong community to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their families.”
Previously, Caroline worked for the Cheshire and Wirral NHS Foundation Trust for 15 years, where she worked with people living with mental health problems, including dementia, in the Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and Alsager areas.
Her most recent post was as a Community Mental Health Nurse for Older People with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice in Mental Health Interventions, within the Dementia Care Pathway, at the University of Manchester.
