Station plan gathers support

THE proposal to re-open Willaston Station has won the support of Willaston Parish councillor Maurice Jones.
In a recent meeting with Dr Adrian Heald, Labour’s prospective Parliamentary candidate for Crewe and Nantwich, Mr Jones endorsed the suggestion.
In the near future it is planned that Dr Heald will meet with representatives from Network Rail and Arriva Trains to explore the viability and potential location of a new station at Willaston.
Dr Adrian Heald said: “This proposal forms part of a wider consultation with citizens and businesses being conducted across the locality led including a ‘meet the public’ event held on the afternoon of Thursday, September 26 at the Railway Heritage Centre in Crewe.
“For an area that’s heavily dependent on the transport industry, Crewe and Nantwich should be leading the way in innovative solutions.”
