Colleagues take on triathlon
12:00pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
WORKERS at a Crewe business are swimming, cycling and running their way through a triathlon on Sunday after being inspired by their colleague.
A group of 37 employees at Health Shield, a health cash plan provider in Crewe Business Park, are taking on the North West Triathlon in aid of Beating Bowel Cancer.
They aim to raise more than £2,000 for the charity, chosen after finance director Maxine Wilson was diagnosed with bowel cancer and has been fighting it for the past 12 months.
Health Shield has pledged to match-fund the amount raised, bringing the final amount to in excess of £4,000.
Last year, six teams tackled the triathlon, raising more than £9,000 for Beating Bowel Cancer.
The competitors this year will be accompanied by Maxine’s husband and son, Ian and Adam Wilson.
Jonathan Burton, chief executive, said: “It’s a great way to take the strong team spirit we have in the office and put it to good use during the three separate disciplines.
