POLICE will work alongside Cheshire Fire and Rescue (CFRS) service to apprehend arsonists responsible for torching cars throughout Crewe in the past week.

Firefighters have been called out in the early hours on three separate occasions to extinguish vehicles that have been deliberately ignited in residential areas of the town.

Crewe Station Manager Paul Binyon: “We are working in conjunction with the Police on the investigation of all three vehicle fires.

“We treat all cases of arson very seriously. This sort of crime is extremely dangerous and any fire puts the lives of the public and firefighters at considerable risk.

On Tuesday, October 8, a car was set alight in Dane Place, Maw Green.

One fire engine from Crewe attended the blaze at 2.06am.

They found the vehicle well alight and used two hose reel jets to extinguish it.

The fire was reported just over an hour after crews had put out a van fire in Meredith Street.

The vehicle was well ablaze when crews arrived and was extinguished using hose reel jets.

Tuesday’s morning fires followed another deliberate ignition in Claughton Avenue, Crewe.

A car was set alight in the neighbourhood just after midnight the preceding Thursday, October 3.

Mr Binyon added: “We would urge anyone with information about this sort of behaviour to report it by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or Cheshire Police on 101.”
