A WINSFORD mum has taken a giant leap to achieving her dream job, after receiving support from Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s work and enterprise team.

Terri Yarrow, 34, of Dee Way, has been a regular at the trust’s work club at Wharton Library, where she received information and advice on searching and applying for jobs, and has since secured a new job as a healthcare assistant at Leighton Hospital.

The mum-of-two, who currently works in the local community caring for elderly and vulnerable residents on a zero-hours contract, has also embarked on a two year training course at Mid Cheshire College, giving her the qualifications to train for a her dream job as a nurse.

“I used to pop into the club during my lunch break – I had only been attending for four weeks when I went for an interview for a healthcare assistant at Leighton Hospital,” said Terri.

“I would normally get so nervous in those situations, but I was given so much confidence from the team at the library that by the time it came to the interview, I didn’t feel nervous at all and was prepared for all the questions they threw at me.

“I was worried that I might have come across too confident, but they gave me the job there and then.”

Terri has long wanted to train as a nurse, but only gave it serious thought six weeks ago – around the same time the work club started up at the library.

“I had decided that it was now or never, but didn’t know where to start when it came to training or jobs, so thought I would just go along to one of the sessions at the library to see if they could help,” said Terri.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. They helped me put my CV together, provided information on where to look for jobs and gave advice and practical help on training, college courses and interview techniques.”

Jayne Pullar, who works for the trust’s work and enterprise team, hopes others will be inspired by Terri’s story.

“Terri has gained so much confidence since joining the club and we are absolutely delighted that she has found success so quickly,” said Jayne.

“She is a real inspiration for anyone looking for employment or looking to change career paths, and we hope her story encourages other to use the club to help them into work.”

Terri starts her new job as a healthcare assistant on the wards at Leighton Hospital on December 9.
