ORGANISERS of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon have released details of their British-only prize fund for the 2014 race.

Taking place on Sunday, April 6, the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in Trafford is the flattest and fastest marathon in the UK and is recognised as one of the flattest courses in the world.

With a deep prize fund and three time bonuses available to UK registered runners only, the organisers are looking to attract a top quality British field to Greater Manchester.

The cash prize for the first ranked British male and female athletes is £750, followed by £500 for the runner ups and £250 for the third placed athletes.

The top ten British athletes will be eligible for cash prizes.

In addition to the cash prizes the organisers have also put up three time bonuses, awarding £10,000 to the first male British athlete who finishes under 2:10 (hh:mm) and the first female British athlete who finishes under 2:20 (hh:mm).

The first placed British athlete completing the race in under 2:15 (male) or 2:25 (female) can claim a £3,000 time bonus, and a bonus of £500 has been put up for every British runner who crosses the finish line under 2:20 (male) and under 2:30 (female).

There is one £10,000 and one £3,000 time bonus per gender and time bonuses are not cumulative but in addition to the cash prize fund.

All age group winners will receive £100 worth of ASICS vouchers each.

Any athletes who have achieved times of under 1:09:00 for men and 1:19:00 for women in a half marathon in 2012/2013 or a marathon time of under 2:30:00 for men and under 2:50:00 for women are also eligible for a free race place in the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon 2014.
