Cheshire East Council received in excess of 70 reports of fallen trees or branches across the borough yesterday, some of which were located on the principal road network.

Teams worked hard throughout yesterday afternoon in poor conditions to try and ensure as many routes as possible were open for the evening commute.

As night fell, efforts were focused on the principal road network and those of a more urgent nature.

Minor roads were closed and work has recommenced this morning to re-open them.

The cleanup operation is set to continue over the weekend. The incident was further compounded by falling temperatures last night that meant that our crews were also out salting the borough’s network in the early morning hours.
