Crewe Guardian: Crewe company helps Christmas toy appeal Crewe company helps Christmas toy appeal

Local Charity CVS Cheshire East is once again looking forward to helping Santa this year by distributing some fantastic toys and gifts to children and families across Cheshire East.

These toys are being generously donated by staff working at AstraZeneca’s Alderley Park site. This is the 2nd year that AstraZeneca’s staff members are bringing an extra gift along to their Christmas party.

These are then transported to Storage Boost in Crewe ready for CVS Cheshire East’s staff to sort and distribute. Storage Boost were once again very keen to help by donating some valuable space in Crewe allowing local charities, groups and organisations working with children and families in need to collect their allocated toys in time for Christmas.

‘The staff of the AstraZeneca Alderley Park site are very pleased to be helping these wonderful charities who provide support to children in our area at Christmas. We hope our gifts will provide some Christmas cheer to children in difficult circumstances. We also acknowledge the great support of CVS Cheshire East again in organising this present distribution’ – Dr Chris Doherty, AstraZeneca, Alderley Park Approximately 1600 gifts are expected this year. These will be shared between 50 local organisations working with children and families in crisis or who are having a tough time this year.

Sally Davies, Marketing Manager of CVS Cheshire East says: "It is very humbling to read the stories about the families receiving these toys, but we are so glad to be involved in this again this year and to be able to help in some small way. We would also like to say thank you to the staff at AstraZeneca, Alderley Park and to Storage Boost in Crewe who are enabling this to happen.

We would like to spread this appeal out next year and be able to give Christmas gifts to even more groups and charities - If you would like to be involved in some way and help even more children at Christmas 2014, please email For information on CVS Cheshire East, a Cheshire East Charity that advises and supports our local Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector, please visit
