SOUTH Cheshire College students are geared up for success after a visit to Bentley Motors.

The public and community services foundation degree group visited the Crewe headquarters of the luxury car manufacturers as part of their Security Industry course unit.

They were given a tour of the world-famous Pyms Lane factory by Bentley’s head of security, Robert Storey, before visiting the production line where they learnt more about health and safety issues.

Students also had the opportunity to meet members of the security team, watch a fire safety demonstration, visit the main security gate offices and see the Bentley car collection area on the site.

Public services tutor, Nigel Bailey, who organised the visit, said: “Our students discovered that the role of the security officer is very varied.

“It addresses many issues vital to the well-being of the company staff and the economic viability of the company.

“We are extremely grateful to Rob Storey and Bentley Motors for facilitating the trip which gave our systems a fantastic insight into security systems at the company.”

Public services courses equip students for a career in the armed and uniformed services.
