A CREWE man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a collision between a car and a lorry in Nantwich.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which occurred on the A500 Nantwich Bypass at 4.50am on Monday, December 23.

The car involved is a silver Vauxhall Astra, driven by a man in his fifties from the Crewe area.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Leighton Hospital. His family have been informed.

The driver of the lorry, which was a white DAF articulated lorry with trailer, was not seriously injured.

The road was closed in both directions to allow the emergency services to complete their work at the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision itself, or have any information which could assist the collision investigator.
