POLICE are appealing for information following a serious assault in Crewe.

Officers were called to an address in Back Lane, Shavington, at 8.24pm on December 21 following reports of an injured man.

The 40-year-old man had received serious injuries to his head and body and was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital, where his condition has been described as stable.

DS Rob Balfour said: "We are trying to piece together the events that led up to this serious assault and are appealing to the community for help with our enquiries.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who spotted suspicious activity in the area of Flag Lane, Bridle Road and Wistaston Road at its junction with Flag Lane between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on December 21."

Three men from Crewe aged 38, 36 and 40, and three men from Liverpool aged 41, 26 and 22 were arrested in relation to the incident and have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
