IT’S New Year, new hair for a fundraising Wrenbury school nurse who had her long locks shorn in memory of a ‘very brave and inspiring’ school pupil.

Debbie Conde of has generated more than £1,000 for the Donna Louise Trust to thank them for supporting Hebden Green Community School pupil, Ben Gillespie, who was just 17-years-old when he died in December 2012.

“Ben was a dear friend. He was a very brave and inspiring young man who had complex health needs and was completely reliant on others to help him,” said Debbie, 48.

“The hospice gave him and his family respite. They looked after him and his family in such a tragic time when he passed and I wanted to give a little back.”

Debbie, a school nurse who helped look after Ben, had her hair trimmed on New Year’s Eve by Adam at Damian Adams Hair Design in Crewe.

As well as supporting the hospice, Debbie’s hair will be made into a wig for children who are suffering the effects of Lukemia by the Little Princess Trust charity.
