PEOPLE are invited to get involved with the running of Leighton Hospital and other key heath facilities this month.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) is inviting patients, carers and members of the public to stand as a governor in its upcoming council of governor elections.

The trust has 30 Governors, with the existing tenure of the majority of these coming to an end on March 31, 2014.

Governors help to fulfil a number of roles, from representing the interests of the local community at trust meetings to approving certain appointments to the board of directors.

John Moran, MCHFT chairman, said: “We really value our Governors as they provide vital feedback from our community.

“You do not need specific qualifications for the role other than an interest in healthcare and your local hospitals, as well as a commitment to representing your constituents to the best of your ability.”

Nominations for Governors are being taken throughout January and voting will then take place during March.

The term of the council of governors then commences on April 1, 2014.

The Trust is holding a number of informal drop-in information events for people tat want to find out more.

These are on: Monday January 13 between 10am-12noon at Outpatients, Leighton Hospital.

Wednesday January 15 between 5pm-6pm at the Board Room, Leighton Hospital.

Friday, January 17 between 10.30am-12noon at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich.

Friday January 17 between 11.30am-1pm at Outpatients, Leighton Hospital.
