A GRANDMOTHER from Crewe who was refused a hysterectomy due to her weight thanks Slimming World for helping her lose over nine stone.

Just over a year ago, Janet Capper, weighed 23 stone and was refused a hysterectomy as doctors worried that she might not survive the operation due to her weight.

With a BMI higher than 51 and a dress size of 28, Janet, 51, says the thought of dying spurred her on to make changes.

“I was so frightened,” Janet said. “The thought of not surviving the operation spurred me on to make big changes and I lost an initial stone-and-a-half which was a good boost.”

Janet, who has four grandchildren, then contacted her local Slimming world representative who encouraged her to attend weekly meetings.

Today, Janet has dropped 12 dress sizes, she can fasten her seatbelt without a struggle and is the healthiest she has ever been.

Janet added: “Slimming world has given me my life back. I love it when I bump into people who don’t recognise me because I look so different.

“When I look back I don’t know how I ever got there, it was a recurring cycle, I would eat rubbish, feel depressed, then eat more. It was the hardest thing ever asking for help as I felt so ashamed but it’s been worth it.”

Janet’s Slimming world consultant Rolana Wright said: "Myself and the other members are extremely proud of Janet to see her change into the person she now is, is totally amazing, she inspires so many."
