THERE was a party atmosphere at Nantwich Methodist Church on Sunday, January 19, when MP Edward Timpson officially opened the Nantwich Family Films @ 4 cinema.

The community project aims to deliver the latest big screen releases for a fraction of the price of going to a multiplex.

The Children’s Minister joined more than 80 people for the inaugural screening of Disney’s Wreck it Ralph.

He said: “As a parent of young children myself, I know all too well the pressures to keep them occupied each and every weekend.

“This community cinema will be of great benefit to many families living in Nantwich who currently have to travel some distance to catch a film.”

Many children had their faces painted to get into the spirit of the film, while others enjoyed popcorn from the cinema-style popcorn maker.

Films will continue to be screened on the third Sunday of each month. The next show will be Despicable Me 2 on February 16 at 4pm.

Family tickets of two adults and four children are £10. Individual tickets from £3.

Buy at either Nantwich Methodist Church or Nantwich Bookshop from Feb 1.
