A NATIONAL charity is asking Crewe residents to ‘go purple’ to raise awareness of kidney disease and money for vital research.
Kidney Research UK wants people to hold colour themed events as part of the run-up to World Kidney Day on March 13.
There are currently three million people in the UK at risk of kidney disease.
Every year, more than 55,000 are treated for end stage kidney failure.
The rate of patients diagnosed with kidney failure is increasing by 4 per cent every year.
There is no cure for kidney disease. But Kidney Research UK funds vital research around the UK to try and find one.
A spokesman for Kidney Research UK said: “Go Purple is a great way for people to get involved and fundraise for the charity, to enable us to continue this research.
“The more people that join in the better. We want to encourage the whole of Crewe to get involved.”
