NANTWICH Museum is inviting locals to donate items pertaining to the Great War for a forthcoming lottery-funded exhibition ahead of this year’s centenary commemorations.

Entitled Nantwich and the First World War - The Impact of War on a Market Town, it will open on Saturday, July 19.

The museum has secured a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £3,800 to finance the special exhibition, which will recall the early years of the First World War.

On Saturday, March 15, the museum is staging a drop in event between 10.45am-12noon, allowing visitors to discuss the Great War and welcoming any artefacts that could be featured during the exhibition.

Local information, interesting items, and memories are sought on all aspects of community life in the town including schools, the economy, factories, the effect on local farms, recruitment to the military and the role of women.

The museum is particularly interested in displaying medals, photographs and National Registration Certificates.

Admission to the museum is free and refreshments will be available during the event.
