POLICE patrols have been stepped up following continued reports of antisocial and nuisance bikes been ridden on the footpaths between the King George Playing fields and Joey The Swan in Crewe.

Witnesses state that the bike, described as an orange ‘scrambler’ type bike is being ridden by two males aged between 16-18 years of age.

Neither of the riders were wearing any protective headgear.

A policing operation is underway using officers in plain clothes to detect and deter those using the footpaths in this manner.

PC Dan Sambrook, beat manager for the area, said: “Not only is this behaviour dangerous to those using the footpath, the paths themselves are currently in an excellent condition due to recent local investment.

“It would be sad to see the paths fall into a state of disrepair due to misuse and the selfish, dangerous acts of others.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the matter is asked to contact PC Sambrook at Crewe NPU on 101.
