POLICE in Crewe have launched a manhunt for a sex offender who made inappropriate comments to a woman before groping her.

Officers have received two reports of a man behaving in a lewd manner in the Nantwich Road area of town.

The first incident took place at around 6.20pm on Tuesday, April 1.

The victim, a local woman in her 30s, was approached by a man who made sexual and inappropriate comments toward her before grabbing her buttock.

The second incident also took place in the Nantwich Road area the same evening.

A second woman, aged in her 40s, was approached by a man who made unwelcomed sexually explicit comments toward her.

The man is described as around 6 ft tall and of stocky build. He spoke with a foreign accent, described by the victim as sounding Eastern European.

Inspector Christian Watkins said: “It is uncommon for an individual to conduct themselves in such a blatant and sexually offensive manner and was clearly an unpleasant experience for the victims involved.

“Although the man’s behaviour is lewd, we do not have increased concerns for the community as a whole.

“We have offered advice to the women concerned and are doing all we can do identify the man responsible and urge anyone who may be able to identify the man to come forward and speak to us.”

“It is always important to take on basic safety advice. Avoid walking alone, particularly in quiet or poorly lit areas, especially into the evening and night.

“If you find your personal safety compromised, or you are approached in this manner, phone us immediately”.
