A FULLY staged musical spectacular will be adding some glamour to this weekend's Jazz, Blues and Music Festival in Nantwich.

Swinging At The Cotton Club, at the Civic Hall on Saturday night, is just one of the headline shows at the annual festival, which is now in its 18th year.

The event, which runs from Thursday April 17 to Monday April 21, has grown into one of the biggest town festivals in the country, bring thousands of music fans into Nantwich each year.

Among big name acts for 2014 are Thea Gilmore, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, Snake Davis and Bruce Foxton's From The Jam, while scores of other artists and bands will be playing in the town's bars, pubs, clubs and other venues.

Festival organiser Phillip Martin said: "We have a really strong line-up across the five days this year and ticket sales have gone really well.

"As usual people will be travelling from across the country and even further afield for the festival, which can only be a good thing for the town.

"There are a number highlights to look out for but Swinging At The Cotton Club is something of a departure for us as it is the first time we have put on such a highly polished musical show.

"It promises to be a spectacular event and hopefully one of many over the festival."

Swinging At The Cotton Club, featuring Harry Strutter's Hot Rhythm Orchestra and vocalists Marlene Hill and Megs Etherington, is an action-packed show celebrating the music, dance and songs of the Cotton Club - the famous night-club which flourished in New York's Harlem in the 1920's and 1930's.
