AS summer approaches the preparations for the floral displays in Crewe town centre are well under way.
Crewe Town Council has a contract with Cheshire East to supply the town’s floral colour and will be supported with further investment in bunting that is due to go up at the end of May.
Working with local company Design Office the town council has made sure the people of Crewe know that the Town Council delivers the floral service by using money granted by central government to brand the town planters.
Clr Benn Minshall said: “We know the town centre in particular is facing challenging times and we are investigating ways to increase the economic vibrancy.
“But this we hope in a small way will help start the turnaround.
“It is really good news, the town is set to look fabulous all summer. We hope to get the weather to do the flowers justice.
“The town council is spending around £20,000 on this for the town and to help the public know we are responsible new signs are going up around the displays to show this is our work in partnership with Cheshire East.
“I really hope that this helps to bring people into the town, to stay longer and to enjoy the town.”
