POLICE are appealing for help to trace a man who did not appear for his trial.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 26-year-old Adam Gouthwaite, from Anfield, who was due to appear at Chester Crown Court on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was also set to face charges of aggravated vehicle taking, causing death while uninsured and failing to stop after an accident and failing to report it.

The trial was due to start on September 9, 2013. Charges relate to a collision that occurred on Hooton Road, in Willaston, in the early hours of Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in which a stolen Renault Megane collided with a tree.

The 16-year-old passenger in the car, Adam McGunnigle, was killed.

DC Steven McCabe, from Cheshire Police, said: "Gouthwaite, who is known as ‘Scouse’, has links to Prestatyn in North Wales, Liverpool and the Oldham area of Greater Manchester.

"Since his disappearance numerous enquiries have taken place in an effort to trace Gouthwaite, and as part of these enquiries we would like to re-appeal for any information or sightings"
