TRAINEES from Reaseheath College in Nantwich have scooped two awards at a regional construction competition.

The young apprentices headed to Themis at Burnley College on Tuesday April 8 to take part in the first round of the national construction competition SkillBuild 2014.

Over 100 young construction trainees battled it out in their chosen trade with skills such as bricklaying, wall and floor tiling and painting and decorating all being put to the test.

Reaseheath College trainees proved themselves to be some of the top competitors at this year’s event, by securing a first and a third place in the senior categories.

David Ford, 19 from Northwich placed third for senior bricklaying and Matthew Williams, 18, from Whitchurch gained first place for new entrant carpentry.
