Poundworld set to open up store in Crewe bringing 30 jobs to the town
BRITISH-run bargain retailer Poundworld has announced the opening of a brand new town centre store in Crewe bringing 30 jobs to the town.
The new store will be in the place of the former JJB unit on Market Square that has been left empty since Autumn 2012.
The 6,000 square foot bargain store will be officially opened on Thursday, June 5 at 10am, creating 30 new retail jobs for the town.
Family-run Poundworld – which was recently the subject of popular BBC1 documentary ‘Pound Shop Wars’ – will take on the rival Poundland store in Crewe with its 245th store in its chain.
The chain said it would offer Crewe’s shoppers a ‘value’ alternative to other high street retailers and would ‘provide massive savings on leading brands such as Cadbury’s, Coca Cola and Johnson’s’.
Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Poundworld, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our first store in Crewe at Market Square and it’s great to be able to create 30 new retail jobs for the town.
“We hope shoppers will take advantage of the great deals we have on a vast range that includes branded and value products, from groceries to cleaning products and pet care.
“We’re confident that we can tempt people away from Poundland with our fantastic bargains.”
Yorkshire-based, Poundworld was founded in 1997 and has more than 240 stores across the UK.
